Removable Dentures

There are occasions where some, if not all, teeth need to be removed. Depending on your individual situation, there are different options that may be available to you. Listed below are some of the most common types of removable prosthesis offered at Northern Smiles Family Dental.

Complete Dentures

If you are missing all of your teeth, this is the traditional route that is taken to replace all of the teeth. These are custom made for your mouth over a number of visits.

Overdenture

You may have heard of dentures that “snap” into place. If so, this is the option that is being referred to. Dental implants would be placed and then at a later time, an attachment is placed into the denture allowing it to snap onto the implants. Having an overdenture allows the denture to fit better and provide more stability ultimately allowing you to be more comfortable around others.

Partial Denture

These are needed for those individuals that are missing multiple teeth but have other stable teeth to use as support for a partial. A partial denture will use your remaining natural teeth for stability. These are able to be removed at any time for easy cleansability and while you are sleeping. There are different options of material and can be discussed with Dr. Nielson at your appointment.
